Liverpool’s sensational singer-songwriter Zuzu has dropped the news we’ve been hoping for, along with a fantastic new song. Zuzu has announced her debut album ‘Queensway Tunnel‘ will be released November 12th with a brand new single ‘My Old Life’.
‘My Old Life’ is a beautifully emotional showcase of her vocals, featuring that subtle soft Scouse twang that she delivers perfectly. The song is about letting go of what you can’t change but, more than that, it’s about realising that an ending is also a new beginning. The song builds from a gentle acoustic feel into a more passionate and meaningful message that builds with the melody and the subtle introduction of layers as the song grows. Zuzu says:
“This last 18 months have brought about some of the biggest changes in my life. I’ve had to learn how to set boundaries. Learn how to walk away from people and how to let people walk away from me. This song is about a particular period I had to dig really deep to find enough self-worth to move on from an emotionally exhausting situation that – at the time – felt like the end of the world. It’s about pushing through those dark times and coming out stronger and wiser. Writing ‘My Old Life’ really helped me to shake off all of the toxic energy I was holding onto and truly let go.”
‘My Old Life’ follows on from Zuzu’s sensational ‘Timing’ which was released in June and is a slower, softer song – yet still keeping that catchy chorus and relatable lyrics. With the news of her debut album Zuzu has really stepped up to the platform that she has built for herself over the last since releasing her debut EP ‘How It Feels‘.
