Welsh up and comers Beano Naboo and The Real Keepers have just put out their latest tune and crowd favourite ‘Trouble On The Telephone’. A song which feels really drenched in pain and almost country inspired in a lot of places.

Within the track itself, it’s really easy to see why this song is a crowd favourite at Beano Naboo shows. It just feels rough and ready in composition and performance.

However, the part letting this track down is the production. Although there is clarity in the track there’s just not enough. A lot of the instruments just don’t feel like they sit in their places in the track and things like the guitar have been boosted in volume too much making them stick out, as well as being very heavy on the high frequencies anyway.

I’d also definitely like to hear that vocal a lot more clearly in the mix! From what can be heard, the vocal performance is absolutely insane, however, I just can’t hear quite what I would like to of it because of the mix of instruments being in the way.

For a band who advertise themselves as ‘DIY Rock’ however, these guys really aren’t doing badly. A lot better than I’ve heard from some other bands and a really good example of what can be done with a ‘do it yourself’ attitude.
