‘Calling Time’, the latest release from Manchester band Arkayla is an instantly likeable, shining example of some great modern indie guitar music. With quite astonishing guitar tones and beautiful vocal melodies throughout the song this one is perfect for any indie lover.

Arkayla have recently seen success from BBC Music Introducing for this track as well as an add to the matchday playlist at Old Trafford. It’s fairly easy to see why this song is going down so well with so many people too, as it’s one that really gets right to the point and wastes no time. So often bands will write to a specific formula or to a structure and expect a song to last a certain amount of time, not these lads, they’re doing things their own way and it’s coming out amazingly.

At a little over two and a half minutes in duration, you’d think that there’d possibly be something missing from ‘Calling Time’ or that you just want the song to go on for longer. However, that just isn’t the case. This song, though short in length, does everything it needs to within its short duration and leaves the listener with something that’s so catchy and very memorable.

This band sounds so reminiscent of others that have gone before them, yet they’re so fresh with their own sound and unique writing style. A real breath of fresh air to listen to.
